Location: Roumieh – Lebanon

Size: 68 Hectares

Service: Preliminary Conceptual Design
Project details:
While the best possible locations of the golf course in New Roumieh Village, was on very steeped slopes, an area of 80 hectares to design an international 18-hole Golf Course is out of question, because such an area exceeds even the site area and does not fit within the required land use. This is how the idea of designing a 9-hole Golf Course arises.
Quatrofolio Architects knew that although establishing a comparison between courses, is not an intelligent process because each course must be evaluated on a whole property basis analysing all the components of the course, a 9-hole golf course should certainly be designed and technically constructed in an excellent way as well as an 18 hole golf course, so It can be enjoyable for professionals, golfers to play and be mutually beneficial with the operation of an accompanying hotel, golf club, driving range, etc.
Knowing that we will be needing an area of around 30 hectares / 300 000 square meters on a flat course located upon valley land or an average of 40 hectares / 400 000 square meters on a gently sloping course and for steep sloping land and hilly course the area will increase the amount of land to around 50 hectares / 500 000 square meters; four Options has been studied by Q, in that purpose. Only two options reply most to the requirements, option 2 and option 4
In each option we had to face Issues that were broken down into Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats.
This was a very challenging site and Concept Design.
